Walk for Rice 2023

The 33rd Annual Walk for Rice returns to Seward Park

The Walk for Rice benefits the ACRS food bank which provides culturally familiar foods to immigrants, refugees, elders and families throughout King County. My father Sam Mitsui co-organized with Herb and Barb Tsuchiya, the first Walk for Rice almost 33 years ago. When covid hit the community, the ACRS food bank switched from walk-in distribution to home deliveries. They currently deliver 2,250 bags of groceries and 2,000 culturally familiar meals weekly to seniors and those in need.

To celebrate the Walk for Rice returning to Seward Park, I’ve created this limited edition art print. The piece celebrates the beauty of the park that my Dad, Sam Mitsui loved. He ran the loop and swam to the buoys countless times. I pictured him sitting on a bench looking south at the view of Mount Rainier. A single purple flower is next to him which is my Mom’s favorite color.

All proceeds from the sale of the limited edition print will benefit the ACRS food bank. Please walk with us on June 17th!
